A proper noun refers to a specific person, place, or thing...for example names of people(John,Mary), names of stores (Target, The Gap)...proper nouns are always capitalized.
and are usually singular!
A proper noun is a noun (person, place, or thing) that is specific. Weither or not you capitilize it or not determines if its a proper noun.
Like "white house" isn't a proper noun, because there are lots of white houses, but "White House" is because there's only one and it's in Washington D.C.
Names of people and days of the week/months are proper nouns too.
