What are the requirements to becoming valedictorian??

Question:Is it only based on grades or are there other factors that contribute to becoming a valedictorian?? If it's only on grades then I'm screwed!!

Answers:
At all schools it is based on GPA alone, never on any other factor. Some schools have just one valedictorian (highest GPA), but others oddly have multiple valedictorians (for example, any student with a 4.0).
i think its the person who is at the top of their class... grade wise. :|
It's all about grades. Something like GPA divided by credit hours, and whomever has the highest ratio, is valedictorian.
"The title is generally awarded based on the calculated total credits of grades (overall GPA), a senior vote, the amount of dedication to certain extracurricular activities, the academic weight of classes taken, or SAT/ACT scores."
Highest grades. I mean, that is the actual definition of the word/title. What else did you think would be counted?
It may depend on where you go to school. In my state it goes by the GPA and the classes you take.
