30 days hath September...?

Question:Do they not teach this poem in school anymore? I recited it in class to one of my highschool students when she asked how many days were in June. She acted as if I was speaking Latin! Does anyone else remember this poem?

Oh, if we are telling our versions, mine is:

April, June and November
All the rest have 31
Save Febraury alone
To which we 28 assign
Til leap year gives it 29.

I know the first half of this poem. I'm going to be a senior in High School. Most students wouldn't know it because it is easy for some kids to learn without the song.

got the same reaction from a group of Juniors a couple of months ago...just one more thing they are not teaching our children anymore...it probably is offensive to February (it has only 28 but sometimes 29) so it's not PC :)

30 days hath September, April June and November. 31 days hath all the rest, except for February? I've heard it before, and I'm a high-school student, but I don't remember it all. Or how many days are in each month.

This does not help you with the poem, but have you seen the knuckles thing?
1st knuckle (index finger) Jan (high - 31 days)
dip- Feb - short month
2nd k - Mar - 31
dip - Apr - short - and so on
go back to 1st knuckle for August

We had to learn it in our 3rd year at primary school... it is not much use, but here it goes...:
30 dì conta novembre, con april, giugno e settembre,
