Are we all here to undo our past mistakes in life?

Question:I heard a song, where the words said that, "Everything has been done, there is nothing new under the Sun."

I was told by an angry older male, "That we are prisoners here on Earth". That he had learned that in his Catholic school lessons and that is why he dropped out of school.
Or prisoners to repeat all our parents life mistakes like this poem suggests in its first portions about making mistakes?

Absolutely not. The song is irrelevant, it's quoting the book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible, which is merely saying that all aspects of the human experience have been experienced before by someone at sometime. Regarding the prisoner concept -- there is a tendency for us to repeat our parents' (and our own) mistakes, but the bottom line is that we have the free will to choose our own path.

I believe that Jesus has paid the price for my sins -- past, present, and future -- so I don't feel at all like a prisoner. I've been set free. Romans 8:1-2 states, "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death."

God desires for us to use our free will to choose Him, but He does not force us to do so. Joshua 24:15 says, "But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."

The past is a concept. Nothing more. To live with only concepts as ones matrix of consciousness is spiritually risky and emotionally delusional. The species and individuals that survive and thrive and produce goodness in the real world are those who RISE above that world around them and the world that made them.
those people who said that we experience all this hardships in life to repay for our fastlife mistakes are bunch of cowards. we are here now because it is our creator's intention to put us here in this kind of situation to test us on how we'll deal with it. if we are making good of our life despite all the hardships or if we will fall and be unworthy from his site by living in evil means.
Thats true we are prisoners because of SIN that we inherit to our first parent that is ADAM and EVE. But there is a solution in being a prisoner is to accept the TRUTH and the TRUTH will set you free. THE TRUTH is JESUS CHRIST our SAVIOUR and LORD. Accept HIm right now and you will be release in your prison and the HOLY SPIRIT will dwell in you and teach you in HIS WORD the right way not copying the behaviour of your parents if they are not a christian. REPENT and BELIEVED and you will be set free in prison.
