How do i start a art surrounded by special effects?

im 14, live in Malaysia, where there are highly few special effect houses and all of them only do commercials and stuff like that(definitely not what i want).......im thinking of starting up contained by the US of A.......but then im gonna need a degree(no idea what scope to do)......someone told me 2 do cinematography or mechanical and electronic engineering......please help
