Is blood really thicker than water?

I think it depends on your personal experience in life. Most people would say yes. For me, my family has never been close, loving or caring but my best friend has. To me blood is not thicker than water.

Yeah (most of the time) family is forever (until death) but friends come and go, some done, but most do. And you never truly know who your friends are unless they've done somthing extreme for you or you've been friends for a long, long time. I had a friend who was using me to get to my other friend who always had parties and gave out gift bags. She acted like my friend, but she wasn't. Water.
I say no, you can pick your friends, not your family, much as i love them - they demand more of you, might sound bad but its not like the telly happy family thing.

Depends what family you come from and what friends you have. In my opinion, no, blood isn't thicker than water the majority of the time. I, however, don't come from the Brady Bunch. In cases like that, blood is thicker than water.

In the physical sense, yes, blood is really thicker than water. Unlike water, blood cannot evaporate due to the particles in the blood. Water is just a mixture of hydrogen (2) and oxygen - gases in their liquid form.
