"America is one of the countries where obesity appears to be endemic." The word relates to things specific to a particular place. Does that make sense?

'Endemic' means something that is prevalent to a particular area, local or people.

Example sentence : "Certain categories of diseases are endemic to the tropical regions like Malaria, yellow fever, etc."
