Do you capitalize western if it refers to a movie genre?

Such as in a John Ford western

Answers:    i searched it on google and suprisingly they own it written it as both Western and western... but i think Western is appropriate.
Well, that's an interesting question. You would not capitalize "horror" contained by "It was a Stephen King horror". But horror would not normally be capitalized as a proper noun surrounded by other context, as would "western".

In your context, I believe it would be correct to capitalize Western. Dictionary.com agrees:

8. (often initial capital letter) a story, movie, or radio or television play something like the U.S. West of the 19th century.
