Any tips in writing a letter for a scholarship?

Question:I'm writing a letter to apply for a scholarship. This is NOT a scholarship for a college but a letter to apply for a scholarship to a leadership retreat. Can anyone give me a creative tip to impress the people reading my application? Maybe from your own experience
