It's pretty d**n hard to answer an incomplete sentence...but you MIGHT be talking about one of these:

*dundun--this is not to be confused with a bass drum of the same name from a different W.African culture.

*bata--these are used in Ifa and other Orisha spiritual traditions.
Djembe, or Jembe if you follow those that eschew any French Colonial influences. Further to the north, the Arabs made dumbek, which are similar, but have thinner heads and were made of clay or metals, since trees were scarce.
