so i dont get this verb pronoun stuff.

okay so the sentence
"everybody checks their homework"
within that sentence the noun everybody is singular and the verb checks is plural.

"everybody is going to the bathroom"
the noun everybody is singular and the verb are is singular.

why are the 2 verbs different? one is singular and one is plural? thanks

Answers:    They are not different. Checks is SINGULAR, not plural

(He checks--singular; They check--plural. You've get to use the right person, surrounded by this case, the third person).
