How do you mean? or what do you mean?
Question:many a time i have heard people use these two phrase, i strongly believe one of them is not appropriate, can some one please help identify which is suitable.(serious answers please)
Answers:
"How do you mean?" sounds awkward, I've never used it, and the only place that I have seen it used is, funny enough, on these message boards. I use, "what do you mean?"
what do you mean is what i say.
"What do you mean?" is the one that's appropriate to use.
